section outing? it's not really the WHOLE section

Heyey! my first time posting on the dead blog!

Anw, it was a fun section outing on the 24th july, 2010(: it was the sec 4's almost- the- last - section outing before they graduate and become OLD. anyway, i really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun, even though we were all practically exhausted from yesterday's SIBF.

Let's make Ah JIng and the sec 1's jealous. OK you know what the section did after the exchange with 中国广州深圳中学交响乐团？they went to princess's castle, ate two tubs of ben and jerry's icecream ( cookie dough and triple caramel chocolate thingy), one of which was officially treated by wonderful wen ting, and the other by me?( no. i just payed for the tub and the others havnt paid me back yet.*hint hint* anw, if i buy the tub, starbucks is over.) Then we caught a few silverfish and played wii while eating packets of chips (:

Comeon mann...it's just too bad you didnt come. we played this japanese drum game that no one understood, then we carried on with tennis and it was quite funny to see jingyi doing excessive extra moves like playing real tennis while sherena just stood calmly there hitting the ball like no one's business ( i mean what else can you expect if she plays wii every other alternate day?)it's funny if you just compare and contrast. Then we played retarded boxing where you just hit around and hope that you defeat your opponent ( wait. who am i narrating to? oh. this is just a record of the memory.) then we played mario olympics thing, the athletics track, gymnastics trampoline and aquatics swimming. (gosh i just hate the gymastics thing coz i got the lowest..C6 leh.. wen ting! how you get so high??!! sherena hates this too -- the only thing she sucks at :D the running and swimming was funnily retarded and gay. i dunno. u just wildly swing the wii around... sherena's good at this too... Anyway, after that was RAVING RABBITS! gosh. SUPER DUPER GAY.. remember the spraying rabbit, PIMP my rabbit, the DANCING and the catwalk thing? gosh. ohoho. then we played cooking mama where we tried to whack mama. lolx. it was really fun la. or is it just me?

we ended arnd 6? oh jing yi, i hope you reached home in time for piano lesson, and that you managed to finish your theory..in time, to escape your teacher's wrath..

hey hey let's have another SECTION outing on founder's day after school! like last year, when we went to mind cafe? ya. UGLY DOLL. HAHA. we could go mind cafe or we cld go sherena's hse :D ちっ！

Anw, i really hope you had fun coz i really did. Thanks again for the fun retarded times.. we are really gay and im quite proud of it (:

Hello old ones :D

I wanted to include this in the previous post, but the format got a little weird so ah, new post (:

Anyway, I didn't have the time to write letters to y'all, but... I just want to say thanks for being my senior (: For teaching us all the basics, the techniques, everything... The only reason why horns could make it so far, is 'cause of your tireless teaching and your love for us, for band.

I was really touched when Cheryl and Yanyan checked all the cupboards and made sure we brought everything, even though y'all didn't need to be the ones worrying for us. And yet you still did, and it doesn't just bring back memories of the old times, but also the fact that your love can really remain with us, forever; with the section, forever.

With the band, forever.

And for Chai and Cheryl whom so willingly emceed for us, thank you so much for bearing with our messiness and constant changes. We're really so thankful to you all for helping us so much -love-

For Yanyan (and Val who probably won't see this), thanks for helping with the lightings. It was tough having to learn how to control it and to have to rewrite all the lighting commands, but thank you two for being ever so sporting and awesome (:

And for all the other seniors, present or not, it doesn't really matter, thank you for showering us with love all these years. Yeah, you can say I'm old already, but I guess I really do understand the love of a senior for her juniors, for the section, for the whole band. (Juniors y'all read this must learn to love your seniors hor!)

Thank you, for instilling in us the passion and the drive for NYCB. For impacting our lives, and for shaping our mindsets and attitudes so that we don't do everything purely for the achievement, but rather, to have fun and do well in the process of music-making.

Lastly, (I know y'all are bored of my posts alr hahaha) THANK YOU NYCB HORNS, FOR EVERYTHING, FOR THE LAUGHTER AND THE TEARS, FOR THE SMILES AND THE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENTS... I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!

As I'm typing, tears are brimming in my eyes. As Quin once said, it's okay to forget us when we're gone, because the passion lives on in every single one of you. Because the passion lives on, we'll always be there, in spirit,

Yesterday was Appa XII! -loves- How was it for y'all! It was absolutely, positively awesome for me (haha Liau)

Anyw, just want y'all to know that I'm really proud of us, really really proud of how we wow-ed the audience. I'm not saying this just to make us happy! Got evidence okay, true blue lit student must show evidence / concoct own evidence (HAHA KIDDING)

yesterday was the first time I had ever attended a concert… in layman terms it was THE SHIT
you can tell that a concert is really good when a guy who normally doesn’t ever listen to this stuff suddenly resolves to learn how to play the horn after 2.5 hours of the concert, wants to join the band in JC just to do that and goes “NANYANG IS DAMN PRO” at everyone he talks to for the whole day to the bewilderment of them

maybe I am overreacting but the 2.5 hours spent in the theatre yesterday was the most BRILLIANT AND EPIC MUSIC I HAVE EVER LEARNT IN MY WHOLE LIFE

When I scroll down my Facebook Home page, I see it full of NYCB messages from NYCB members and even other friends too. This just goes to show our magnitude, our strength as a band, this 105 member band; we did it. We prepared, we performed, we passed on our passion to the audience, and everyone else in the band.

This is it, dear horns. This will be and has been, the last concert for me, Silei, Wenting, Sarah and Sherena. It doesn't really sink in, does it? But I do know, that I couldn't ask for better juniors (and seniors too!)

I'm really proud of us, proud of our sound, our energy, our passion, our everything. Horns, we could do it, we can do it, and we did it. We showed the audience what we were capable of, and we shone throughout Appassionata XII.

Y'all were nervous right? x) Seniors crying 'cause it's our last concert, you all cry 'cause stressed. Aww, now you know there's nothing to be nervous about! 'Cause we are capable of so much! We have so much potential within us, and I'm sure y'all heard the whole band's sound yesterday.

We're so much more than whatever labels anyone can give us. Be it any grade in SYF, from COP to GWH, none of these can ever measure the greatness of NYCB.

Which is why, we always emphasize to work hard and have fun, and to treasure your time in NYCB.

Because our time here is coming to an end, and I can vouch for Silei and Liau that we've been treasuring every single prac that we have left. It's close to three more months before the three of us step down, and for you all to face SYF '11 without us.

It's not a big deal, really. Because I'm so confident that we can do this, with hard work and determination, there is nothing that NYCB and NYCBHORNS cannot do alright!

Same goes for SIBF, it's on July 23rd, 8.50pm. that's about two months from now. We can do this, it's a big hurdle for us, but definitely, I believe NYCB can rise up and be the best, because we are,

Nothing You Can Beat !

Let's bring NYCB to greater heights and prove to everyone that we are the music while the music lasts, and that the passion really does live on.

Hey dearest section,

Appassionata is in less than 24 hours as I post this. Just want y'all to know that I'm really proud of how far we've come, as a section, as a band... And I'm really proud of each and every one of us.

We've worked so hard; we've shed blood, sweat and tears over this, and I'm really proud to be in the Horns section, and in NYCB!

It's my first and last actual Appa, and I know it'll be such a great one. We'll wow the audience, and we'll show them what NYCB really is, Nothing You Can Beat.

APPA is, A Passion 'Perseus'-ting always; so my dear hornies, let your passion shine through, let it touch every single one out there in the 100% full concert hall. Let not one soul go, unmoved.

Why? Because the basis that NYCB is built on, is passion.

In us, we are the music while the music lasts. The pride, the passion and the perseverance of a performer will arise in us, as we stand on stage, listening to the words:

"Now, we present to you... Nanyang Concert Band!"

Imagine the immeasurable pride you will feel. I'm proud to be a NYCB member, I'm proud to be of this wonderful section, and of my batch too. We can, we must, and we WILL do our best, to do our seniors, conductors, tutors, teachers and everyone proud!

Treasure every single second you have on stage, because the pride and the glory you feel will be so magical, that only Appa can ever give you back this sensation.

Hydrate yourselves, drink lots of water, eat your vitamins, sleep early okay.
We must be in tip top condition then we can be Singapore's next top Band.

hey my beloved jnrs, (:
i hope you guys are feeling better now, i mean, afterall, what is there to be sad about! i know, maybe the result wasn't up to our expectations, but rmb what i wrote in my letter to you guys? it doesn't matter what the results are, what matters is what you think of your own performance.

from the alumni of NYCB, we're proud of how much you guys have achieved. we're extremely proud of how well you guys sound and really, you guys have improved so much it's so heartwarming (: in our opinions, we believe that you guys should have at least been awarded a gold, but that's our perspective.

so what if the judges don't agree with our opinions? does it really matter? music, like all kind of Arts, is something subjective and there's no definite answer to whether a band is good or not. whats the difference if you guys get a gold or a silver? it's JUST some award. it DOESN'T necessarily mean that's your standard of playing. right now, people outside from alumni and NYCB believe that you guys played so well that the judges should have awarded you a gold at least. that means these people out there have felt your emotions, your passion within the music; they've managed to be touched by your playing, so congrats! you guys have managed to convey all these into your music! and that's one of the biggest achievements musicians can obtain too!

it's probably not easy to say that yes, nycb was awarded silver for now, but like what kay yun (darn it, idk how to spell her name D: oops), what you should take back with you are the memories; the memories of you guys working hard TOGETHER, memories of the whole band playing and moving TOGETHER, memories that we are still one band, one band which has achieved something more than the satisfaction an award can provide, you guys have achieved what professional musicians aim for - ability to convey their emotions into their music, the ability to touch their audiences and the fact that you've played your best, and more! you guys have bonded with each other so much that really, it's just one big family (:
(HAHA really cannot deny this point, the snrs all feel so out when they return because .. idk! we're just so left out ): hahaha)

so c'mon horny hornies! :D pick yourself up and smile! because i am really proud of you guys and in my eyes, you guys are still the best band everrrr!

Be alert! haha reminds me of low crime doesn't mean no crime
Remember to pick up horn/come in/play/cut off/put down horn together, as a section :)
Remember where we're sitting on stage! Which is one seat from the extreme right --> *remind Sherena and I*

Report for national anthem at 6.55 am wearing band skirt, blue band tee, and a big smile on your face! :) Oh and no slippers
Rmb to bring aforementioned, and some more. I hope I haven't left out anything :S

First and foremost!

Thirdly AND VERY, VERY IMPORTANTLY.
REMEMBER TO LOOK/STARE AT MS CHONG/THE BATON AT ALL TIMES DURING THE CONCERT (except when changing positions in between songs. And maybe when emptying your spit. But then again, maybe you should still stare since she might start anytime. Or she might be pointing at you and laughing and you'll know that you have poured spit all over your face. Yeah. So, you should just stare nevertheless.) :D

Fourthly!
Those who have yet to submit consent forms, do so on Monday, morning (grr). (Haha.)

Fifth up!
Borrow all Disney related items! I've got Shrek and Reindeer (lol?) ears yup but do bring stuff (like perhaps white gloves can do as well) yuppp :D

BRING YOUR MOUTHPIECES ON MONDAY. AND FULL BAND UNIFORM AS WELL. Yup I think I'll be wearing band tee + band skirt + band socks + band shoes to school so if you're going to be a copycat (haha kidding) do bring the white blouse, blue vest and SCARF. If you're not wearing band shoes and socks to school, remember to bring them as well!

Each person is to sell TEN tickets to family/out-of-NY friends/anyone not in NY. Try to do so, if not find someone who can sell more for you or something, yup.

Pleaseeee urge your class to go for the concert! Esplanade Concert Hall's seating is around 1700 (?) if I'm not wrong. Passing the list around in class isn't going to work. Please go by word of mouth and all to encourage your friends to go!

Just finished reading the whole blog. I ALMOST cried. Seriously, espeicially at Yanyun's miss everybody post. It's so touching and I miss every detail that she picked out. Like how Nutcase is always lafing and being naughty, how Jiaying is a real cinderella (toiling and suffering as the sl), how Rouhui is so cold (literally and figuratively), and how much I LOVE ek. There are a million things to talk about but I don't trust myself to get down and make a list. Yes, I do procrastinate and becomes pretentious once in a while, so... we'll see.

I sincerely apologize for not going back to visit you guys... and for my stolen horn (one valve is still stuck!). Did any other people notice or complain or scold about it? If there is, I am truly sorry and will return it.

Ahhhhhh and I promise I'll go back one day with ek to just hang and stuff. And you guys can see how big my head has grown over a year and tell me all your gossip. SOMEONE ORGANIZE A HORN GET TOGETHER AFTER As at Sentosa or somewhere. Hope there's no serious problems with the section...

sigh..i really miss mr ingham..and no!! i dun have a crush on him! it's just that he's a super nice form and maths teacher, and it's so sad we didn't appreciate him last year. now he's like, so good that he's teaching IP classes and not my class..sigh. :(
